The school is fully commited to the implementation of the National Curriculum. Our aim is to make it interesting and put it in an overall content for the children. Above all we want it to be thorough and revelant to the children. During their stay with us pupils in our care will gain experience in all areas of the National Curriculum. Subjects considered as the core of the National Curriculum are: - English - Mathematics - Science - Information Communication Technology - Religious Education In addition to this core children will be given experience in the following subjects: - French - History - Geography - Music - Physical Education - Art - Technology - P.S.H.C.E (Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education) We believe that these subjects provide a broader balance to the education which the children receive. They play an integral part in equipping the children will skills which they will need in the future. All children receive lessons in French in curriculum time. In addition we are also offering French lessons in an after school club. All lessons are taken by a qualified Language Specialist from Frederick Gough School. Because of national requirements it is necessary to emphasise focus on key core areas of the National Curriculum, these are; Literacy, Mathematics and Science. The school views overall achievement of a child as the primary goal over pure acedemic prowess, although acedemic prowess is important achievement is more than just acedemic prowess. |
